A "Well" Church
41Those who accepted his message
were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number
that day.
The Fellowship of the Believers
42They devoted themselves to the
apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread
and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled
with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the
apostles. 44All the believers were
together and had everything in common. 45Selling
their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
46Every day they continued to meet
together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and
ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising
God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to
their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:41-47
They continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine
and fellowship. —Acts 2:42
Pastor and author Greg Laurie says that churches are "well" when
they practice these activities:

Like the early church, we should be active in these ways today.
Worship. We must meet together for fellowship, communion,
prayer, and praise (Acts 2:42,47). God is to be the focus of all we
do in His church.
Evangelize. As we share the Word, the Lord will add new
believers to the church (v.47). We can all take part in spreading
God's Word by developing a friendship, by giving someone an article
about the gospel, or by sharing some Scripture verses with a
stranger.
Learn. We must continue learning sound doctrine taught by
qualified leaders (v.42). The Bible is filled with instruction for
living, and we should take every opportunity to learn from it, apply
it to our lives, and teach others.
Love. We are to share with whoever has need, and enjoy the
fellowship of other believers regularly (vv.45-46).
A church whose members worship, evangelize, learn, and love will
be a "well" church, effective in the community, and appreciated by
"all the people" (v.47). —Anne Cetas
Churches grow when people pray
And pastors preach the Word,
When love for Christ sends out the call
To those who have not heard. —D. De Haan
A world in despair needs churches that care.

SERVICE IS NOT SPELLED SERVE-US
Prepare my heart for serving,
Let my spirit heed Your call;
In obedience to the Father,
Our Lord and King of all.
Fill my thoughts with You, Lord,
Renew my mind today...
I give you full control,
In the things I do and say.
Take these hands You gave me,
And use them for Your good...
To glorify Your Kingdom,
In the ways I know I should.
Remove all doubt within me,
Lord, I trust You'll find a way,
To mold me in Your image...
As I walk with You today.

One Sunday in a Midwest City, a young child was "acting up" during
the morning worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some
sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle.
Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked
sternly up the aisle on his way out.
Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the little one
called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!"
Men Should Join The Choir
The top ten reasons men should join the church choir:
10. Rehearsals are every Wednesday night. Which means
that for those few hours, you will significantly reduce your risk of
contracting tendinitis from nonstop operation of a television remote
control or computer mouse.
9. Because you wear a choir robe every Sunday, you are
liberated from a task many men find quite challenging: finding clothes
that match properly.
8. From your special vantage point every Sunday, in which
you look out at the entire congregation from the choir seats, you will
develop interesting new hobbies. Among these is a little guessing game
called "Who's Praying, Who's Sleeping?"
7. On the other hand, sitting in full view of 400-500
people on a weekly basis makes it much less likely that you yourself
will give in to a chronic lack of sleep. Although it has been known to
happen.
6. If you think your singing in the shower sounds good
now, just wait till you've been singing with us for a few weeks.
5. Singing in a choir is one of the few activities for
men that does not require electronics equipment or expensive power
tools. This could be good for the family budget.
4. For the fitness buffs, singing in the Choir is not
only heart healthy, it's soul healthy. But there are no monthly
membership fees, and it's a lot easier on the knees than jogging.
3. If you think you've done everything there is to do,
and there are no great challenges left in life, try singing with us
guys and staying on pitch.
2. Choir rehearsal lasts half as long as a professional
football game, but is at least twice as satisfying. This is especially
true if you are a long-suffering fan of the Miami Dolphins. (Don't
worry, though, the rehearsals are on Wednesday, not Monday Nights.)
And the number 1 reason men should join the choir:
1. When people ask you whether you've been behaving
yourself, you can say with the utmost sincerity, "Hey, I'm a Choir
Boy."

Here is my heart, Lord Jesus,
I have but one for Thee;
Oh, let my heart be Thine alone,
Thy will be done in me. —Mick
