Quotes for Thought

"Church attendance is a vital to a disciple as a transfusion of rich, healthy blood to a sick man."
 D.L. Moody
"The blood of Christ stands not simply for the sting of sin on God but the scourge of God on sin, not simply for God's sorrow over sin, but for God's wrath on sin."
P.T. Forsyth
"Of all tear, they are best that are made by the blood of Christ, and of all joy, that is the sweetest that is mixed with mourning over Christ. Oh! it is a godly thing to be on our knees with Christ in our arms before God. I hope to know something of these things."
John Bunyan

Redeemed By His Blood

1 PETER 1:18-19 NKJ
18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things,
like silver or gold . . .
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot.

Some Christians shy away from talking about blood -- but not
the Bible. In fact, the Bible presents blood as an integral and
honored part of Christian teaching.

Blood represents life, and Jesus freely gave His life to redeem
you.

COLOSSIANS 1:13-14 NKJ
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and
translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sins.

The blood of Jesus -- representing the giving of His life --
was the payment for your freedom. You should give bold
testimony to the power of the precious Blood of Jesus. It is
what has set you free!

Sin opens the door for the devil. But Jesus' Blood cleanses us
from all sin and closes the door of opportunity to the devil.

1 JOHN 1:9 NKJ
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Jesus' Blood enables us to stand before God as if sin had never
existed. We have no other plea for entrance into God's presence
but the precious Blood of the Lamb.

HEBREWS 10:19 NKJ
19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by
the blood of Jesus,

The blood of Jesus represents all that God accomplished for you
in His great redemption.

We should display the token of Jesus' Blood over the boundaries
of our lives -- anywhere the devil might have an opening -- by
releasing our faith in the sufficiency of that precious Blood
through words.

SAY THIS: I am set free by the Blood of Jesus Christ.

A Bible Devotion

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace that he lavished on us.
(Ephesians 1:7-8 NRSV)

Have you ever spilled something really messy on your clothes? Maybe something like ketchup, or chocolate milk, or mustard, or pizza? Or maybe you've gotten your clothes all muddy and stained with grass stains. When you get your clothes all messed up like that, it's really hard to get them clean again. You might need to use a special stain remover to get really yucky stains out of clothes. I bet you use some really powerful cleaner to get really messy stuff out of your clothes.

But what do we use to get really yucky stuff like sin out of our hearts? When our hearts and lives are sinful, we need something really powerful to get them out! Well, that's what Jesus came to earth for. Jesus never committed a sin in His whole life. However, he did forgave us of our sins. And He died so that our sins wouldn't keep us out of Heaven. No, April foolin' either!

Dear God, thank you for Jesus who is my savior. No foolin'. Amen.

POEM

The Easter Gift

He was beaten, He was bloodied, He was ridiculed and shamed,
He was driven through the streets before a crowd that jeered his name.

He was made to carry the instrument of His death upon his back,
In a state of sheer exhaustion, while His body in pain was racked.

His feet were heavy as He moved toward a fate He knew too well.
Tears blurred His vision, Yet His love continued to swell.

When he finally laid down His burden, nails were driven through His hands and feet,
The pain taking away his breath, as He suffered sin’s defeat.

And though he committed no crime, He willingly paid, for abominations of unspeakable sin,
Taking on an appearance so vile, that His Father turned His back upon him.

“My God, My God, Why hast thou forsaken me?” He cried out in anguish and shame.
And the angels cried too as they looked upon His face, their tears falling as torrents of rain.

But the thing that amazes me most, is that through it all He still felt love,
Even when His Father forsook him from above.

Instead of cursing us for our weakness, our sin and failures that He knew,
He uttered instead, “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”
